I am about to become an owner of a new JD 4500 tractor with a front end bucket and a JD 613 rotary cutter - all for $25,150. I am buying in New Hampshire but farming in Vermont. I would be interested to hear if anybody has any comparable prices.

I have a 4700 hydro, 4wd, folding ROPS,DSCV, R4's, 460 FEL w/73" HD bucket and John Deere's new MX6 med. duty rotary mower on order, total price for these items is $27,571. w/o tax. I am also ordering numerous other attachments but that shouldn't make much diff. I'm in Maine, David. ....

Randy - Thank you very much for your reply. It sounds as though you got alot for your money. I am curious how the 4500 has performed. Have you had any troubles? I plan to do some bushhogging and front end loader work. How many hours per year are you logging?

Tom, I have really enjoyed the 4500. The loader has been used extensively in preparing the subgrade for a new barn (excavated and filled about 300 yards of sandy material. The 4500 has plenty of power and surefooted in 4 wheel drive. Since it has finally rained in Texas the rotary cutter is being used more. The only issue I have had is the fogging dash which the dealer is going to replace when the mowing season is over. I haven't decided about the axle replacement, since the strength of the double hydraulic cylinders appeals to me. However the tractor does scuff when mowing, particularly with R4's. The tractor presently has 60 hours on it. ....

Tom, I will be doing alot with the 4700. I have the following attachments on order, 460 FEL w/73" HD bucket, #48 backhoe, JD 660 tiller, JD posthole digger, JD MX6 rotary mower, Patu DC 65 HF chipper, Fransgard V4000 logging winch, Landpride 72" 3pt mount finish mower and Landpride 2572 Box scraper. I guess I'll be busy for a while. The tractor is in, I played with it the other day at the dealership, I love it. It has all the most updated equipment that many 4000 series owners have had problems with. Not all of the attachments are in and the service dept. is behind so it will prob. be another week or so before I will be playing fulltime. I also told them not to hurry, I want everthing done right the first time. David ....

Just my opinion: the JD belly mower is really!!!!!!! worth the 1000 or so extra dollars,I''ve had the 72" belly mower just this season and it does a much neater job I think it is because of the gauge wheel placement. I had the Landpride 72" finish mower for three seasons and it was not easier to put on or use the price is the only reason that I can see getting the Landpride, and I think that it isn't enough. I wish I could get all the good stuff that you are getting that is the only thing that I would change in your order. Oh one more thing, make sure you put a piece of rubber belting on the inside of the rear door on the 660 tiller, to protect it from dents, I didn't do it to mine and it really looks like hell with about 10 hours on it. ....
